Mister Katz's Rock & Rye Whiskey

Sale price$30.00

Mister Katz grew up on the B&O Railroad, spitting distance from the old Hannisville Distillery.

In the days before Prohibition, there was all manner of entertainment to keep a young man’s fancy: the ponies, chewing tobacco, malts at the drugstore and an evening’s treat of Rock & Rye.

An American classic, authentic Rock & Rye could once be found on the back bar of most noteworthy establishments. Over a century later, we proudly present Mister Katz’s Rock & Rye.

In service to the past and present, it marries our rye whiskey and rock candy sugar with sour cherries and Bing cherries, cinnamon and a wisp of citrus. Enjoy it neat, over ice or in a cocktail.

An American classic

The original cocktail in a bottle.

Rock & Rye emerged in nineteenth-century America as a combination of rye whiskey, rock candy and fruit.

It became a fixture on saloon back bars and was even sold as a remedy for whatever happened to ail you. Prohibition nearly made it disappear.

Mister Katz’s brings it back, without the medicinal claims.

THE KATZ FAMILY

HE'S ALLEN. THEY'RE MISTER KATZ.

New York Distilling Company co-founder Allen Katz named Mister Katz’s Rock & Rye in honour of his father and grandfather, both Rock & Rye drinkers.

The name connects a distinctly American drinking tradition with the family that inspired its return.
